Mart Yes indeed ITK, it can`t be long before I will no longer be able to ring from my mobile phone to cancel an appointment and say "I`m in Scotland", for example, without the client saying, "well according to the sat nav on my mobile you are at the Dog and Duck!".
emmapeelfanclub And we supposedly live in a "free" country. Yeah, right. Look at what it was like 20 years ago and look at it now... we are constantly being told what we can and cannot do - the recent smoking ban being the latest example. All the while CCTV is to be found virtually everywhere, supposedly for our "own safety". Next time you go out shopping or socialising do try and take a GOOD look around you and you'll be horrified at just how much CCTV there is. Who is watching all of this? Why?

Why is it then I hardly ever feel safe on the streets? It's claimed that the crime rate has recently decreased but with all the monitoring that supposedly goes on then there should be no crime at all. Toss in the Internet - we know how everything we do online can be tracked. Mobile phones I believe were a con trick - seduce everybody into thinking they're "useful" when they're nothing more than electronic tagging devices!

I read somewhere a while back that the UK has the highest amount of CCTV in the world - more than the USA! That in itself is very disturbing. Is it any wonder there is too much paranoia and distrust within todays' society?

We are living in an Orwellian nightmare... not that the media are interested or going to comment on any of that... they just bombard us with trivia like Big Brother gossip, Posh and Becks and more to cloud and distract what is REALLY happening.

The disturbing fact is that WE have actually allowed this to happen without any resistance!
In The Know This doesn't surprise me in the least - I read the figure for CCTV cameras recently, and it's horrifying how often we are being "watched".

When you take into account that you are tracable via your mobile phone too, plus the ID card "tags" - there will be a big map in MI5 showing where everyone is at any time in the UK !
Foz Perhaps it is because kids in China are a hell of a lot more respectful of their elders, well behaved and less likely to steal, deal in drugs or murder their peers than their British counterparts!
Phil In the House of Lords, Baroness Walmsley said that the "practice of fingerprinting in schools has been banned in China as being too intrusive and an infringement of children's rights. Yet here it is widespread".
