The language of "pardon" is so wrong. It inplies wrongdoing in itself. If I was a gay man who had just been pardoned by the state I would respond that I didn't recognise the state's right to convict me in the first place; so you can shove your fucking pardon where the sun don't shine...I know this might seem like semantics only; but language is so important.

Indeed..language. Look how "pedophile " has been co-opted to include even late teenagers.

I may be wrong but I believe it lessens the gravity of a sex crime against an innocent child who has no understanding of what is happening.

It imposes on an 7 year old the same mentality as an 17 year old.

Exoneration should be the word..not pardon.

Go on Honey! Which current crime would you pick?

JK2006 The latest stupid Government "changes" - pardoning past criminals who weren't or shouldn't have been criminals - is typical of the way society sweeps things under the carpet. Everyone knows that the way homophobic British police convict gays is by getting false accusers to drop the age by a few weeks or to claim rape instead of consensual lust. Why did the Surrey Police attempts at celebrity sex convictions fail in 2000 against Mick Hucknall and Paul Weller where the equally false trial against me (gay) succeeded? It is all SOOO blatant and obvious.
