Wyot Yes my proposal does need a few details ironed out I agree Hedda!
I suppose in general all I am suggesting is that personal responsibility needs to be factored in somehow. But no one seems to want to expect this these days; we are all victims all of the time...
But were the obese who died last year purely victims of Covid? How long have people known about the dangers?

But what should be done in terms of paying for socialised medicine as individuals? I am proposing that individuals need to be held accoubtable financially for their choices.

We pay more or less in terms of what we earn, of course, but I am starting to think we should pay - on a sliding scale - in terms of our likely burden on the NHS. If we are private then we can waive this; and expect no treatment from the NHS.

I am not suggesting anyone should be denied treatment; but perhaps a yearly medical and lifestyle evidence audit should be undertaken to ascertain how much you should pay the following year?

It would drive helpful behaviours. Smartphones can demonstrate how active we are. Food shopping habits analysed. Lungs tested for evidence of smoking. People can continue to live as they wish. But must pay more to support services their own actions are burdening.

This would never include illnesses or conditions NOT caused by lifestyle choices. There needs to be very careful balances and checks in place. It is clear with an aging population socialised medicine can't be sustained unless radical action is taken.

it's complicated. I agree it seems right that those who lead a dissolute life and then become a burden on the health system perhaps should be penalized but how do you prove it?

where I previously lived in a nightclub area Kings Cross there were boring junkies everywhere (I should have stayed there..it's being yuppified by the day).

They drove me crazy..not only depressing looking but always hassling little old European ladies who favoured the area after fleeing there after WW2 an gave the area a lovely European feeling with their little boutiques (side by side to brothels and strip clubs ) until smack invaded the area.

But can we really do this..go back into someone's past and punish them for their lifestyle?

Anti-vaxers yes..they are choosing in the middle of a pandemic to complicate matters and string the whole matter out for maybe another year !!

As of today an order has gone out..no dancing and singing !!! It's like something out of Black Adder.

well there are endless medical programs in place to deter smokers and aid the obese in order to avoid future medical costs which with socialized medicine is sensible.

I'm with Macron and Noam Chomsky who has drawn fire for saying the unvaccinated should isolate themselves.

How much is it a political ply though with France's presidential election coming up?

Whatever your view on vaccinations the vast majority, about 80% in France are vaccinated so probably agree with Macron !

## 3 years ago I went to some promotion on Sydney harbour at the old 19th century Quarantine Station which has the most gorgeous harbor views, lovely gardens, it's own swimming pool and lovely little cabins (it's now a sort of hotel/ function center) and only accessible by a cute ferry ride.

It would have been quite nice to get isolated there. Maybe Novak Djokovic could jet up from Melbourne and book in instead of the ghastly 3 star hotel he's been put in that served up maggots in the room service.

My next door neighbour has been triple jabbed and is down with Covid. Now I have to his shopping.

I have done LFT tests and PCR unjabbed and all negative. Despite having mingling with 70 people at Christmas.

Not forgetting additional people meeting in the pubs on New Year's Eve.

I have asked Tubs if he is okay, he is very hefty. He has been tested negative also.

So is Covid just a common cold ?
