Wyot Is this the first time in history that the worthies have tried to cancel a country?

Remove Dostoeyevsky from the library shelves now!

Just what has an artist, though, to do with a war?

Let's follow the statue-tumbler logic further:

Given historic icons can be wiped (because all historic wrongs must be acknowledged) then if an artist's nationality can mean they are cancelled in the event of their country starting a war, then we must remove all the works of Dickens from bookshops tomorrow.

For how many wars and emperial wrongs have the English committed? And why just dead artists? What about all current English written, music, visual, TV & film artists? Stop all work and sales immediately.

Let's all sit about in bookless silence forever musing on the sins of our fathers.
