JK2006 Of course, in reality, the BBC will NOT make this point; neither will any other media outlet, traditional or social. It is too complex an argument. "Poor child; evil people smugglers" is the story. Nobody (except me) is prepared to say - as I do - "Open All Borders". If, by doing so, we save a million lives of children who will starve to death or be killed by the Taliban or Russians or die from various reasons and who certainly will NEVER become world champions - we should, for the sake of humanity, be doing that, coping with the problems, being a decent society.
JK2006 Nobody seems to be commenting that Mo, in this show, is advertising for the massive advantages of people smuggling. Those who brought him to England, intentionally or not, made him the superstar he is today. Left in Africa, would he have achieved what he has achieved? I imagine there will be millions of small children (and their parents) watching this show - as I shall tonight - who will think "Oh my God I MUST get taken to England". Hopefully the show will point out that, had it happened to day, little Mo would be living in Rwanda.

Because Mo was below the age of criminal responsibility (10, in the UK) - when arriving here - he didn't commit any crime.
Honey Well, they have said that there is no question of him being deported.
I don't want him or anybody else deported, obviously, but his worth is no greater than the many non achievers.

But how do we know he is telling the truth this time?

Ditto.

The UK is a soft touch so nothing will happen to him same with dingy people who come to Dover every day.
