The ice cream scene is unintentionally funny. Dustin Hoffman finest moment for me was Midnight Cowboy a film I saw in a picture house.

Just watched this again for the first time since 1979 - it really is still a terrific film with all three leads sensational. The 7 year old kid is now 51!
