Well I'm glad you chose Birmingham. It isn't that far from where I live and I went to that contest in 1998 and had one of the best times of my life. Spent a bit of time chatting to the Finnish YLE radio commentator..and I was on camera for all of 1.5 seconds during a cutaway in Guildo Horn's performance.

Its almost like Glasgow has none of the above, which we all know isn't the case. Hotels, restaurants and easy travel access are what makes Glasgow a fantastic option.

When I won Eurovision as Executive Producer for the UK in 1997, the BBC told me I could choose which city to host in 1998. I chose Belfast because of political reasons. The BBC ruled that out for security reasons so I then chose Birmingham because I felt it was under rated (Manchester and London got all attention) and needed the boost. This year I again wanted Belfast (for similar reasons as in 1998 - except this time it was Brexit not IRA). But I have no input in 2022 (in anything, but that's another story). My second choice is Liverpool due to the musical heritage but also because of the proximity to Manchester with all the hotels, restaurants, easy travel access etc that that huge city provides.
