JK2006 Oh yes - not all Hitler's rise was bad; some was brilliant but the bad was really bad - like Trump, Boris, Zelenskyyyy - the surprising thing is it took so long for leaders to catch on. Image is everything.
janis I've been watching several series on WWII particularly Hitler and Germany. And what I KEEP seeing is how similar Trump's views and actions are. I have read that Trump idolized Hitler. And I'm sure that even now he has a copy of Mein Kampf near his bed.
JK2006 Example - I was totally unaware of the Leica/Leitz story. This Hitler series is really interesting and informative whilst being entertaining. Spot the way our 21st Century stars (Trump; Boris; Putin; Macron; Zelenskyyyy; the new Italian lady) reflect the way Hitler rose, controlling media.
JK2006 I'm glued to Hitler: The Lost Tapes on Ch4 fascinating and brilliantly scripted. Simon Reeve in South America (BBC2) - my favourite section has been on Bolivia (wish I'd been there; South America and South Africa are two missing continents in my CV); and Michael Palin in Iraq on Ch5 - all these are MUST catchup shows.
