Jo Check out the comments under that Mail article pointing out that Mountbatten isn't around to defend himself, whereupon people reply that "Saville" (sic) was dead too, as if that was justification.
me no idea of the truth but talk on the (unreliable) grapevine was hunky Guardsmen were the vogue.
