I thought he was awful on TV and film, reading this makes him doubly awful.

don't particularly like or dislike him..cannot understand his rapid rise.

Or very saw knees. Apparently, he has backstabbed a lot of people to get where he is. The late-night chat shows in USA are becoming a dead format. Jay Leno and Johnny Carson were the kings. David Letterman was good in the 80's and mid 90's but he was becoming stale by then IMHO.
I have met James Corden, I part-owned a nightclub where he used to visit. He is very, very obnoxious and utterly vile. I had to calm my business partner down, he wanted to beat James Cordon to a pulp due to loud and rude language towards staff. It wouldn't be the first time my business partner has put man in ICU before.
I told my business partner that 'I don't want to clean up blood nor do I want to go to court. I have better things to do and bar staff want a job to go to in the evenings.'
Other pub landlords and nightclub who I met Corden, over the years they all said same thing. He is not a nice person and refuse to talk about him. It's a common question in hospitality "Have you had anyone famous come into your establishment?"
