Very odd.

Some people are indoctrinated by the media and the education sector. I bet any money you like that people who have no idea about Armistice and Remembrance Day. Had/Have had elderly relatives who served in a war or know people personally who have a served. My grandad had severe PTSD. I met a lot of veterans via work, and they all mention their shenanigan's in Berlin, Antwerp, America, Paris and Amsterdam with hookers and strip joints and getting in a bar brawl etc. However, they mention where they got posted but they never mention conflict and what they did in conflict.

My grandad never spoke about his time in WW2, only when he saw Prince Philip on TV then we all hear about Philip was a big pussy and a fucking coward. My Grandad never displayed his medals either.

Many tutors live in leafy parts of the UK and they never done anything outside of school. Tutors left school and went back to school. I grew up during The Troubles and I remem ber running home with shells flying over me, this was when I was forced to immigrate to USA with help from my uncle.

I didn't get much say. My uncle said I was going on holiday to New York for a few days, then ended up working in scrubby bar getting paid cash in hand. My uncle knew the owner from a Ted Nugent or a Grateful Dead concert.

I have no regrets about my time in North America met many wonderful people and I am still friends with most of them after all this time. If I didn't get move to USA, get that bar job and meeting the pub owner's daughter. I wouldn't have 2 daughters. Their stepfather is a great man and has done a splendid job.

JK2006 A top barrister friend phoned me and chatted for half an hour.
When I told him it was a very inappropriate time he asked "why?"
When I told him he just went on talking.
I have no interest in these strange habits and never wear a poppy but I still found this odd.
Perhaps I'm getting old.
