I have seen poncy or people who think they are poncy. Putting on Italian accents in Italian restaurants, they order a pizza with a long title or pasta dish, then try and say the name. It's flipping nauseating.
Cough...
I thought everyone did this!
Not everyone Wyot. It's normally the (white) middle-classes.
I love the working class chav type in Italian restaurant's they normally just say 'cheeze and tomata pizza' or 'spag bowl' which has made choke and I did nearly spit out some expensive Rosso dell'Abazia; I was trying to hold back the laughter. |

I really don't think that Americans will get his humour at all. It is very british, talking about Coronation Street, t'internet, and his aunties who were his mum's mates. I don't think he cares, he's got loads of money, likes a quiet life in Bolton, and works when he wants to. I find him to be a likeable enough bloke, but I never really understood why saying garlic bread in a bolton accent was so funny.
I think it's aimed that to those who never venture out or try foreign food/restaurants.

I love American Italians especially the older folk (baby boomers) from areas like Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhatten or Belmont in Bronx. |

The Americans liked James Corden for some very odd reason. However did blag his way through to an executive by saying he does interview's. Corden, is an arrogant douchebag who I have met at work.
Joan Rivers had some success in the UK, I found her to be very hit and miss with her jokes and style even in the 1980s.
I never understood why people like Harry Hill. However being held hostage by Ken Dodd was both fun and tiresome. |
