In the late 70s or, I took a personal tape player to school. A teacher whipped out my ear buds hard, which did hurt and pulled out the them out off the earphone jack. And it snapped the ear buds lead.
I told my parents, all they said it was my problem, they said I had to buy new earphones. When I get the cassette player back.
He asked what I was listening to it was Ted Nugent. He said that will destroy last remaining brain cells.
He confiscated both tape and player. I got them back at the off the week. When I did get them back, the tape was played and batteries drained.
I ask the teacher why did you drain my batteries? He said, I had make sure it was in working. The lying bastard.
However, we use to exchange cassettes a lot after that. My uncle used to get me bootlegs from America. However if I bought something I really wanted he would make copies at the end of term.
I still had buy replacement ear buds, gained some respect from a teacher and vice versa. At the end of year I actually gave him a few cassettes.
