No Honey it was Gracie; I always rather liked Fern - she was the first ever person to interview me (on Southern TV in 1965) and her father Tony was quite a famous actor.

Fern Britton? I thought it was ITV? She stomped off her show because Phillip Schofield was paid more than her and has never spoken to him since.
That one?

I was wondering that too and had also forgotten her name. Google says Carrie Gracie. Her Wikipedia page says she was born in 1962, so she may have retired. It also says she had a degree in Chinese, which would require some intellect, I suspect.
I only discovered recently that the BBC scrapped Dateline London in October after 25 years. I thought it was a good programme, even when she presented it, though I didn't think she was as good as some of the other presenters, including Shaun Ley. She was better when reporting from China, I think. Shaun Ley is apparently being dumped from reading the news too, along with a slew of other presenters, some of whom have taken voluntary redundancy, in a merger of the news channels.
but whatever happened to that blonde BBC woman who moaned at the BBC for not paying her the same as a man even if he was better at his job than she was at hers? I've never been a fan of positive discrimination but the BBC gave in but she seems to have disappeared. I can't remember her name but seem to remember her nickname when in China was BIBBY (Broad in the Beam) - I only mention this because the new BBC News presenters seem to have to stand up and I wonder whether that held her back?
