JK2006 wrote:
So where are we on this? It looks like another example of media hype. They needed a good story featuring an attractive woman - SOOO predictable - inflated a tragic accident into a huge story (which it wasn't). Obeying media instructions, police, like governments and everyone else (including us, the lemmings) leaped on board with opinions, criticism, the avalanche of reaction. And hyped a sad tale of a woman falling into a river down a slippery bank, being carried away, getting drowned, hooked into a tangle of underwater roots into a massive Front Page story. Delighted to have something that wasn't Brexit or Covid or Harry'n'Meghan or another complex question that could be hyped into a simple headline with photos, media (and us lemmings), media demanded we drop important urgent efforts into really vital social problems and devote manpower, money, energy, vibrations and hysteria into this sad, tragic, trivial non story. Band waggoners like the ghastly MWT leaped on board the careering vehicle, howling with hatred and that ingredient of ratings and circulation - RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION. (I know all about it; used it whenever I had a missing lead for my Sun column during ten years). Lemmings fell for it. Government ministers - solely and only interested in popularity/votes - joined the cackling chorus. I'm astonished the UK Government hasn't banned walking near rivers or even owning dogs by now. REALLY - without wanting to be cynical - every day I'm amazed by how stupid Humanity has become. One Second Attention Spans - the 21st Century Weapon of Mass Destruction by the Devil. Meanwhile the misery caused to small children and other family members ("Blame Police! Blame Society! Blame anything for a headline!!!!") is ignored. Can you imagine how much worse for that family this sad, tragic, everyday accident has been made by media? Not to mention the hundreds, thousands of OTHER victims of Mother Nature (or another) who wonder why police and society are ignoring THEIR missing loved ones or their children dying from an illness through lack of progress for a cure or relations of falsely accused and jailed or those whose dearest are serving jail sentences for crimes that never happened but who have been judged "too dangerous to be released" despite Governments saying now the original sentence was illegal? Society has become truly bonkers.
I asked if anyone had heard of her Barney not whether there had been
any
media coverage. I posted my own link to
some
media coverage...
Oh why do I bother...

Anyone ever heard of this 68 year old woman who went missing 3 months ago?
