Carl I totally agree JK, although I'm not sure that they would be able to claim compensation if this guy is found guilty.
As I understand it there is a time limit on making a claim for compensation in sexual assault cases as it has to be made no later than 6 years after the victim turns 18.
veritas The compensation angle is one that has always bothered me. I've yet to hear of one person who receives compensation ever donating a penny to other kids less fortunate.

Despite the various scandals and although I'm not a Catholic-I've been to many countries on government work like the Phillipines, Cambodia, New Guinea where there are priests and nuns who are so devoted to charity work for the sick and poor and having few possesions apart from a tiny suitcase of clothes, you could regard them as saints.

I was really disturbed to hear a few years ago that a good friend was applying for compensation from the Catholic Church after a priest who taught him ended up on charges and was jailed for abusing some students about 30 years ago.

He told once when he was really drunk that nothing had ever happened to him but as the guy was being jailed anyway and it wouldn't make any difference to his case, he didn't see why he shouldn't get some money out of the church .
The Cat I think it's about time there was a time limit for reporting sexual offences. Waiting 20 or 30 years to make an allegation is just plain ridiculous. There can't be any evidence either way, unless someone filmed it.
JK2006 Alfred Robinson will find it tricky to prove he didn't do it.

Innocent until proven guilty?

Hmm... the law today.

Meanwhile the anonymous middle aged women will bank huge compensation cheques.

What a delightful world we live in.
