I don't understand why people would pay money to watch a live concert and spend most of it on their phone or watching the concert through their phone. You can do this at home. Likewise, why people stand for hours to watch a coach pass during the coronation when you can see far more at home. It seems millions just like to "say they were there". People are odd and think they are far more significant than they are.
I hate it when people record a band or singers hit on their phone at gigs; it's like they paid good money to them do that one song, most hits are the last song anyway or the encore.
Paul Jones does I've Been a Bad, Bad Boy (if it's on the set-list) early to get it done with he has said recently he don't like that song despite being a smash hit. I think JK even likes that song?
If Kast Off Kinks come your way Wyot, it's worth going. It's pretty much the 'Mick Avory Band' however they are tight and can engage with the audience, I was dragged along because I thought it was a tribute band...I hate those with passion!
However I was bloody impressed. It was a fun, cheap night out...the beers cost a lot more than the tickets.
I know some bands encourage fans to use the torch on the phones for effects, the days of the lighters are over. However they don't encourage you to film the concert or reply to social media posts. My phone is a burner phone and it lives in the glove box.
Whatever happened to the beach ball guy at gigs? |

Indeed. It's the SHEEPLE principle. |

I love going to live concerts but I can't stand phones at gigs. I do remember watching a Status Quo gig through a phone because some tall tosser decided to film the the whole gig in my eye line.
I have never had urge to record or film concerts. Last week at a blues gig, we were warned to put phones are silent; however during 3 songs a phone kept going off.
Bob Dylan orders venues to confiscate phones and fans will get them back at the end.
If Ed Sheeran wants a phone ban to me it speaks volume. He is from a generation of people who are addicted to their phones. I can't understand his appeal or music but he is a multi-millionaire, so who am I to judge?
I love Garth Brooks music but I know people who can't stand his music. Yet, he has outsold the Rolling Stones, Led Zep, Michael Jackson, AC/DC and Elvis.
