Microwave cooking was unheard of when I worked and owned my pub, the chef we hired loved to do things from scratch he was ex-Army. He knew to how to keeps thing low but good value for money whilst making a profit. We left him in charge but basket meals and ploughman's lunch were popular choices. He did traditional meals also like steak and ale pies and roasts.
I don't blame Brexit but the government yes...no PM has tried to make it work because we governed by the establishment and Remainer's.
You can microwave spuds and then grill them, which is a lot better, or you can bake them first and then microwave, or you can buy frozen baked ones which go in the microwave, and all are better than the wet lumps provided by Wetherspoons.
Their puddings are good though.
Yes it is not Brexit itself that is the problem, but the silliness because of it, just like covid was a problem magnified a thousand times over by greed.
