Oh yes what a wonderful show! I could watch Spall all day...But the whole thing is so well done.
If there is such a thing as evil someone like Field is surely it?
I can understand how rage/passion murder happens. But what he did was so emotionless, so cruel, the word seems apt to me.
If you kill someone through rage you acknowledge their humanity in the process where Field denies it. The victims were things to him.

I don't understand why Ben Field was cleared for attempted murder. He knew what he was doing.

Rather hooked on this and moving ahead thanks to iPlayer; the Producer, Director and camera people need praise as well as the actors and script. So many clever shots (show three - clue, not spoiler - RUNNING) say as much as the words. A monumentally good piece of film work. Awards galore I suspect.

Anne Reid also marvellous in Show 2.Older actors who are happy to expose age in their features are magnificent, aren't they? As we age we care less about our appearance and more about our art.
But little touches in this superb series have struck me. The bored faces of the Uni students at Peter's interesting lecture, for example. And his comments afterwards. Clever, clever writing and directing.
