veritas I think the Sun mirrors what is happening to many Murdoch publications.

He's supposed to be the great expert when it comes to newspapers..but is he ?. Certainly buying up already successful publications and making them even more profitable by sacking staff and increasing stories of the lowest common denominator doesn't take a genius.

But remember-this is the guy who fiercly resisted the influence of the internet until it was almost too late and is now paying way over the odds for internet sites like My Space. Now he wants US authorities to change the rules so he can own more of the media there and have some control of the internet.

I also re-call the great Hitler Diary hoax in the early 80'S. Murdoch didn't care then that a quality publication like the Sunday Times lost so much credibility at the time by publishing such obvious fakes, claiming that newspapers were in "show business anyway".

Years ago my stockbroker advised me against investing in News Ltd shares when I enquired-"built on a sea of debt" he said.."a few hiccups and it could spiral out of control"
Mart Papers hardly touched here due to the Springsteen album finally arriving on vinyl.

Nice to see in Guardian letters nobody being shocked by the use of a pigs head on the cover last week for the second time this year, for the right reason, an act more shocking in its repetitiveness than it`s vision.

Perhaps the Sun should try that one next...
JK2006 Bad editor, subs slipping... page 19 in today's issue, a big story about Mike Douglas' son Cameron being sent for trial in the USA.

Page 33... little story about Mike Douglas' son Cameron being sent...

Would never have happened in my day when we sold 5 million copies, not the tiny handful now.
