I remember him vaguely in that awful sitcom The Other One with Richard Briers. Britain seems to be the champions for awful sitcoms, second is Canada, third is USA.

Paul Petty	The Singing Detective was made in 1986 and had just six excellent episodes. All available to watch on the free streaming site - Frostwire, which even has an app. Slightly old and dated now - but the source of many old and some new movies and series.
