I laughed when the teacher threw football and rugby balls at me. I used to say 'What am I supposed to do with these?' He know I hated spectator sports and he knew I hated him.
I didn't mind a bit of cross country but not the running. I loved to look at the nature. I liked watching the old steam trains rolling along the Emerald Isle. I got a telling off for that also. My arguement was that 'We are not in school now'.
I did get a punch in the arm a few times by a teacher, my parent's didn't believe me sadly.
However one teacher picked me up by the shoulders and stared deep in to my soul. My parents went mad. I still don't get the point of schools, I can only guess that parents can have quickies during the day without interuptions.
Yesterday, I was asked again by a another young lad if I needed a driver's mate. If I could afford it I love to hire one.
I can't believe how many people go to school for years and college to get a fancy degree but still can't find a job afterwards.

I had one who was a bloody good shot with a black board duster that could leave a bruise on your face.
And an hysterical English master who seemed to delight in the vicious caning of young boys by taking a run up to the whacking.
I have a slightly bent finger as a result. When I told my mother years later she said she would have stormed the class room if she'd known and given the teacher some of his own medicine.
