I can't think of anything better in a workplace is learning on the job skills than a degree.
If the youths do National Service they can learn motor mechanics, people skills which is not done via phone apps.
You don't need a car to do Meals on Wheels. During lockdown and losing my investments and company. I did volunteer in a soup kitchen with my partner. It wasn't all whinos using the soup kitchen.
When I use to employ people either for the pub or club. We received a lot of CV's from students or former students with no work experience. They had fancy degrees with letters after their names. An old business partner who did the recruitment was brutal to the applicants. He wanted to see how the applicants would react.
He liked the ones who gave him backchat.
I never knew why government don't get the unemployed working on farms. If you cut their benefit money they will do the crop picking and knocking on doors. However, crafty farmers and factories know they can bigger profit margins by employing cheap overseas staff. A lot of the workers live together anyway.
