I think I know where that calf will have "escaped" from - there is a small common between Staines/Ashford where herds of cows and horses are allowed to roam.

I have been followed by a herd of cows walking across it before...
Sally Nice Most unfortunate incident, but after two hours chasing the animal, the police had few options - and were concerned about the obvious dangers to pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. This decision wasn't taken lightly.
