I try to avoid Hitler references though they are increasingly apt. But as for one country invading another - there are always excuses - rarely if ever justified. Some peoples' thoughts about Gays and Gypsies - oh, and Jews - were not, in my humble opinion, decent excuses for murder. Ditto countries defending themselves - be they Lebanon or Israel or Palestine.
I think we broadly big-picture agree.
I also don't believe the recent attacks against Israel justify - at all - what they are doing. Being attacked does not justify the massacre or invasion (what Israel is doing or the Oct 7th invasion of Israel by Hamas).
And if we take a strictly utilitarian view then when Netanyahu has killed several million more, Hitler or Nazi or holocaust comparisoms will be apt.
But other than yourself JK not one of the posters here also condemms Hamas/Hezbollah. You barely see these lovely benign charitable organisations mentioned.
Simplification, Satan's new weapon as you rightly say. I have condemned Hamas many times, and many Gazans rue the day Hamas took control. However, Nuttyyahu doesn't appear to want to stop slaughtering poor Arabs. So if he continues with his mass murder a day keeps the extremists at bay policy, he will eventually match or even exceed Hitler's death count. Also, I would argue unlike Hitler, Israel has much of the world supporting and funding their actions. Hitler only had a handful of Allies,...Japan, Italy and a collection of the Balkans. This is possibly the first time in history a leader who has torn up the rules of International Law, and who has been condemned daily by the UN, still having the full support of the West. We are fortunate Putin has got his knickers in a twist over the Ukraine, otherwise we'd be on the verge of WW3.And we probably still are. |

I have lambasted Hamas in the past...they have not done the people of Gaza any favours. But Oct 7th was not without provocation. And when you see the brutality and violence of settlers in the West Bank for example, sanctioned by Nuttyyahu...I have no qualms about comparing him to Adolf. .'Never Again' following the liberation of Jews in WW2, meant 'Never Again" such hatred and violence and death toward anyone...regardless of their faith. Some Zionists do not understand this. |

I'm trying to remember who attacked Germany first that then provoked it, please tell me.
Hitler comparisons never end well and are offensive when they involve Israel.
I have ploughed a lone furrow here on that one Ethan - but do agree with you.
However, Israels actions are brutal, inhumane, dangerous to world security and must stop. |
