My two favourite Bogart films--The African Queen and the Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Bogart didn't have the classic good looks of other stars, but the camera still adores him.
Yes 2 of my favourite films and Bogart and Hepburn were magnificent in the African Queen.
When I lived just off Portobello Road and was going for an early walk I suddenly heard this recognizable voice commenting on some antiques in a shop..Katherine Hepburn with another lady. |

Sadly he died when 57 - he smoked and drank a fair bit. Met his last wife, Lauren Bachall, on a film set; she - 19; he - 44. Here's a pic of them arriving in London, in 1951.

Imagine being young and seeing this film for the first time. It must boost your hope for humanity - and the makers of film, music, theatre, TV... We can still do it, with this legacy behind us. |
