Green Man The way things are you lucky to even get a pauper's funeral.
Rich You are no longer a person to the government - you are a mere economic unit. Only here to serve the economy.

With every day Starmer just gets more preposterous. He's just had a budget that hiked employers national insurance contributions significantly that now means most of these employers are no longer taking on new people and many are shedding them to reduce the employee tax bill they have, both small, medium and large firms all over the country. Yet at the same moment he's done this he now expects to magic up millions of new job opportunities for the unemployed or inactive.

Starmer seems more out of touch than Charles III.
Downing Street Cat The unemployment stats never ever change, and never have even before the Welfare State was implemented. During the Industrial Revolution there were far more jobs available, as industry was booming, but the workhouses were still crammed to the rafters, because there simply wasn't enough work for everyone. Then of course came the Great Depression of the 30s. 25% of the working population were living in absolute poverty, many couldn't even get in the doors of the poor house, there was a waiting list. They were told to look out for a coffin to be carried out and first come first served.
Green Man Another firm closes it doors.

Well done Labour, talk about fucking a nation in 6 months. Give it time Labour will say they are following orders from WEF.

Green Man I still think there is too many people and not enough jobs. Apprenticeships are good but they seem to be a thing of the past and have done for the last 25 years or so.

There is nothing for those who are in their 30s and 50s who might have been redundant recently. When I was in Swindon, I stopped in a pub, there was a group of men who worked at Honda since they were teens. They were worried about their future, they were way too young to retire but the only thing they knew was Honda. 3 of the men didn't even know how to write a CV because Honda was all they did.

I couldn't imagine them working behind a desk or filling up shelves.
