Hamlet wrote: Gregg Wallace’s ‘case for the defence’ on Instagram seems to be that there are only 13 complaints and they are from ‘middle class women of a certain age’. I interpret that as him feeling that a handful of starchy old harridans taking offence at working class humour out of the 1000s of people he’s encountered on the show. Also he states that some women have made sexualised comments as well.
That instagram video was a very bad move on his part and has done him no favours at all. Only 13 complaints! The tone he took was all wrong.
Regards his attack on certain types of women, how about showing people from all backgrounds some respect. We all act differently in front of different types of people don't we, even within our families. You act according to the company you are in, if you have any sense of awareness. That rude joke you might tell at the dinner table with your dad and brother might not be said if your grandparents or mum was sitting there too. You might lounge about in just your pants in the front room with the family but not if the neighbours come around. In the workplace these rules are even more pronounced and most of us are automatic socially conditioned to know them without needing to be told.
I have an old friend and former colleague who I am able to use mild sexual innuendo and jokes with whenever I meet with her and she enjoys it, would almost be disappointed if I didn't do so, but she's the only person I would ever do this with. There is nobody else I would even consider talking to like this one person my own age - actually she encouraged me when we first met, and I was told by another colleague that she thought she was leading me astray. So women in the workplace can be the instigators of sexual jokes and chat against men too you know. We were chalk and cheese, very different backgrounds but I didn't mind.

Sorry--replying to Hamlet---not Hedda
Green Man
Some perfect points here.
Downing Street Cat
That's the thing Hedda once someone is branded everything they have done is then scrutinised... whether it be valid or not. It's how they try and destroy someone completely which I find deeply unpleasant. People make mistakes sometimes, errors of judgement. I have yet to meet a person without flaws. It's others enjoying hammering in the nails of a crucifixion.

I certainly don’t get why Rod Strewart felt the need to join the pile on. The incident with his wife seems to have been purely about food : she made a sauce using whole eggs or something when she shouldn’t have. Lots of fragile egos around on those celebrity guest shows it looks like. Plus she admitted that she doesn’t cook much as Rod employs a chef to cook their meals . Contestant who can’t cook goes on master chef, prepares a vile tasting sauce, gets a bit of stick from Wallace and her husband nurses a grudge for years over it. Daft.
