I think the potential is there to do enormous damage. Doubt it can wipe us out but in the hands of the nefarious it will cause dreadful harm. And as society is in the grip of worshiping absolute tools like Elon Musk as they think he's "clever" (so was Adolf Hitler) we are in for a rocky time. I'm not sure if it's normal but I am so glad to actually be old..I have enormous sympathy for the today's young and feel they face a very scary future.
