Topic History of: US - Economic and Military Aid

hedda There are powerful US interests in the USA who war is highly profitable for and it is beneficial to have the world in fear of each other.

Just in Australia alone we are paying 100s of $Billions over the next 20 years for nuclear subs that may well be dated by the time they are delivered.

There are 750 US military bases around the world, one in Darwin and the infamous and secretive Pine Gap spy base near Alice Springs..a prime nuclear target if it comes to that.

The US plays countries off against each other. Doubt Trump will be nay different.
Al Gershwin Aid may include 'funds, goods, services and technical assistance'.

But the article highlights relatively unknown American assistance to over half the countries of the world.

Unknown also to a large proportion of US citizens - and why Trump isn't a fan of the less generous UN.
Rich I'd like to know why and wha the USA gave Russia $108,000 foreign aid for in 2023 as the Ukraine conflict entered a second year. That seems a curiosity, especially as it's more than some NATO countries received like Italy, Portugal or even Norway with a small Russian border in the far north.
Al Gershwin The two biggest recipients are Ukraine and Israel; the latter - all military. And Ukraine, totally economic (2023 figures).

Year after year, the US gives tens of billions of dollars to around 170 countries - an often forgotten fact, particularly by those critical of them.

Aid peaked after WWII - when the it allowed many countries to survive and prosper. Trump will have this list very close - from Day 1.
