Yes it is but inadvertantly. Because ugly beliefs lead to ugly actions far more often than inadvertant beautiful outcomes, I believe this will be an ugly presidential term overall and in aggregate.

I would question how civilised any nation is RICH where millions celebrate and believe to be strengths - lies and hateful, divisive rhetoric.
You also pose me what I think is a false dichotomy. Would I rather have a vile person making things better for most, or a nice person not doing so?
Rich, I don't believe that a man with the values and beliefs Trump has CAN make things better for the majority. And have yet to see him do so. I don't believe you can separate beliefs and actions in this way.
Mainly because I have some knowledge of cognitive psychology and understand that actions come from beliefs. And ugly beliefs lead to ugly actions.
I hope I am proved wrong by the end of this presidency.

Would you not rather have a leader of your country who might be a bit rough around the edges, even "a vile human being" but who actually got things kicked into shape and done making the place much better again for the people within your own country, or a "very nice pleasant and polite" person who was utterly useless at achieving anything meaningful and was pushed about by others.
Unfortunately in our own country we have the worst of both worlds, that "vile human being" who is also completely useless and making things worse for almost everyone. I think there are very few even within the Trump loving MAGA movement that think he's an angel like Mother Theresa!
You don't think the USA is a civilised nation anymore Wyot?

Like "diversity" and democracy (voting for someone because you like their hair or teeth) it means people who may be vile human beings cannot become superb (sometimes) Health Ministers or Tabloid Editors.
That's very much my feeling about Trump. If you've not seen The Apprentice movie - do watch it.
I get where you are coming from in a practical sense JK.
I think the extra concern about society, is not just whether a person like Trump should be in office? But that so many celebrate his failings and see them as somehow "honest" or "strengths".
Lying and hateful speech have become positive "smart guy" manipulation and taking a scythe to "diversity". The latter concept in turn has been extended to mean any loving inclusive notions.
Forgetting Trump, what does this say about society?
