JK2006 Jonathan Swift was the man from whom I borrowed my stage name. One of the great writers from 300 years ago. My favourite work of his is A Modest Proposal. Satire at its finest. But Gulliver's Travels is vastly misunderstood - it's seen as a children's book because the story in Book One is so clever but my favourite book is Book 4 about a land where the ruling species is HORSES and humans are vile creatures called YAHOOS.
In Lilliput the cause of wars is a difference between those who feel cracking open a boiled egg should be on the little end and those who feel it must be at the big end.
This absurd disagreement leads to massive deaths and killing.
Well worth considering it today. Still humans fight over stupid, unimportant things like religions or ownership of land - the equivalent of which end of a boiled egg should be opened.
Ukraine, Gaza, America, Rohingya, China - stop fighting and start reading.
