Just caught this one, very sad to hear that news.
He presented a couple of Top of the Pops but never looked comnfortable to me in front of the camera like many of the other Radio 1 DJ's in the 80's.
The last time I gave him a regular listen was about 2010 for a couple of months on evenings Smooth Radio before I sussed how repetitious and dull the format actually was, although i thought he had a warm radio persona. I remember it was at the time of the 30th anniversary of the death of Lennon and he marked that. That interview with Lennon just two days before his assassination will dominate his obituary and he certainly lived off the notoriety it gave him in all the years since.
There's a photo of him with Lennon in the new item reporting his passing.
It's not a great period for the passing of well known Radio 1 DJ's from the mass listening heyday of the station.

Former Radio 1 DJ and TOTP host Andy Peebles has died aged 76
Also presented the late show on Smooth Radio before it was bought by Global
Perhaps best known for being the last person to interview John Lennon www.zetaminor.com/roobarb/showthread.php?60343-Andy-Peebles-(1948-2025)
