Rich The music connection of the younger son "Jakes" that JK was asking after was very interesting. I never knew any of that.

How did you come to know him in the 60's out of interest, as he would only have been a child, having been born in 1956.
Green Man I did hear that Eric was a bit of bully to Hattie, when she was ill during a a South Africa he basically called her a lazy despite having legs swelling and bandaged up.

His autobiography is probably one of the worst reads. He padded out his Army days, it's mostly filler. He said he didn't see much action but manged to spread it out to about 100 pages.
Rich "Jakes" is here JK. He passed on the same day as his mother had 11 years earlier - 6th October 1991, just 34.

Wonderful BBC4 repeat - I knew Jakes - Hattie and John Le Mesurier's son - back in the 1960s. Anyone know if he's still around?

Their son Robin passed away a couple of days before Christmas in 2021.

I watched her This Is Your Life a couple of years ago online and I thought she looked somewhat awkward in it, but very polite, almost shy.

Even though I would only have been just eleven at the time I used to watch BBC Nationwide a lot and I am sure I remember Eric Sykes being live on the programme on the day or day after Hattie passed away in October 1980 and showing a lot of open emotion, tears and devastation at her sudden passing at just 58. I've always remembered this devastated Sykes appearance on that, does anyone else?

I adored Sykes even as a toddler, even naming a budgie after Eric Sykes!
