My mother was Jewish but I never thought of myself as one.
Even though they say the bloodline comes through the mother (the old Jewish joke..you know who your mother is but not necessarily your father)
My mother was not religious at all but she was a very kind woman.
Her Lithuanian Jewish parents did not seem to be religious even though they lived for a few short years in a US commune / cult called The House of David (My grandfather helped built 2 beautiful miniature train sets for a sort of fun camp they ran..one was eventually sold to Michael Jackson for Neverland).
