hedda	Even the Mexicans put on a better show for their 217 year Independence celebration. The US parade had been planned to be a 250th celebration of the war of independence yet not a single French dignitary was invited seeing they funded and fought in that war. I have a sneaky feeling the US military's heart wasn't in it.
Downing Street Cat	I have seen Girl Guide Parades with greater spectacle than that. lol.
hedda	I was wrong, there was a podium but in a way it looked even more ridiculous. It was gaudy and brightly lit and Trump looked deflated as a single tank rolled by with squeaky wheels. The White House has blatantly fibbed claiming there were 250K people there but photos taken by all the mainstream newspapers (no TV broadcaster bothered to cover it live) show mainly empty bleaches and estimate it was 10,000 if that. One thought around 2000. Of course the drizzling weather wouldn't have helped. This was a costly vanity show that has backfired badly due to the cost. Meanwhile some MAGA fans are saying it was all a clever plot by Trump to somehow fool Iran.

hedda	So Donald Trump had his military birthday parade..and it was a dull shocker. Compared to the unbelievable shows of might put on by Nth Korea and Russia this parade was a damp squib. That doesn't mean of course the USA military isn't undoubtedly the mightiest ever seen. They saved the world during WW2 but have had a spotty career since even being sent packing by a peasant army in North Vietnam. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya have been disasters (although not for those looting the assets) But this display was just odd with Trump and a grim faced Melania (looking like she'd rather be anywhere else) sitting on silly chairs (no grand podium?) while Donald looked like he was nodding off. The incredibly crafted displays in Russia with their endless ginormous missiles (which could easily be fake) contrast badly with how Ukraine is repelling the Russian invasion. Looks can be deceiving. There were piss poor crowds with Washington hotels moaning they had put aside 1000s of unfilled hotel rooms in anticipation. Interesting to read the military forums where they say the US military isn't trained for "show" marching like say the balletic Russians, rather they just march to get from A TO B .But to a unknowing viewer it made it look like they were all out of step. But their main point seems to be..the US Military is there to get the job done, not do fancy parades. And there were no dozens of tanks rolling in perfect union rather dodgy in file ones that rattling along cobbled Washington streets that made them sound like wrecks. Difficult to understand what Trump thought he'd achieve by this but it was an overall mess to soothe his silly ego. I think it's indicative of mental decline which will get much worse..soon.
