Green Man I bet you wrote codes in the back of your exercise books ready to be programmed for your C64 when you got in.

One kid was giving a C64 because he wanted to play Minder, it was the only game he owned on the system.

They would never be off bloody Nintendos and Smart Phones!!

Your days on the C64, Amiga and NES did you no harm, Wyot.

Because I went to school in between time spent on my admittedly beloved C64 and reading ZZAP 64! magazine.

But what are they learning at school? It's still designed to keep kids stupid and poor.

They are learning to interact with other children DSC.

They are learning through sharing resources and time and collaborating with other children, that they are not the centre of the Universe. They are learning to follow structure, routine and authority, which is central, psychologically, to children's sense of security and feeling valued. They are learning the importance of reciprocal and applied social obligations through play. They are learning, if in unloving or abusive homes, that there are safe spaces in the world and not to despair. They are learning that differences in ethnic or social groupings has no bearing on the "others" humanity or capacity to love.

They are also learning less important matters such as English, maths, physics, history etc...

I'm not sure what you mean by saying school is "designed" to keep kids "stupid"? Or "poor". By stupid do you mean ignorant of something or slow to learn? By poor, poor in spirit, or future income? What does this design look like?

PS I'm not a teacher!

The only good thing Starmer has said over the year is that the UK is becoming an Island of Strangers, and now he's rowing back on that. He'd rather satisfy some of his lefty backbenchers than the British electorate

I know Robbie, it's the only thing he has gotten right, then he backtracked.

I am sure Sultana and Cabbage Party will have to agree on that one. I hate to say it, but Deform are gaining more traction.
