hedda I don't think so much a conspiracy Jo but more dreadful research and the world's media just repeating ad infinitum a false claim.

The woman who compiled the list of dead babies from the Catholic home has since denied she claimed the bodies were in the crypt rather that she just wondered if some were there (and there are credible claims some kids spotted some skeletons decades ago ..about 20.)

At the same time this claim first surfaced was around the same time..and I can't find the stories..were the claims about a Jersey Children's home with mad claims Jimmy Savile, Ted Heath and Lord Mountbatten visited to abuse children and that there were bodies buried in the basement.

I always remember as I was in Auckland at the time & had just checked into a hotel, switched on the TV to see a BBC reporter standing on a mound of earth and solemnly saying "I am standing on ground where beneath me, dozens of children's bodies are buried."

Turned out to hogwash with not a single bone found.
Rich Has there ever been anything as absurd as BBC Verify, why should I automatically trust that?

Apparently anything this set up says must be treated as gospel, er, why?

Who verifies BBC Verify and Marianna Spring and her colleagues in that self appointed guardians of the truth set up?

I suspect they are very selective about what they like to verify.
Jo Sounds like a conspiracy theory/disinformation that has gone mainstream, rather like Virginia Giuffre's false claim (I suspect) of being pimped out to other men.

The BBC has a disinformation correspondent, Marianna Spring. Her e-mail address appears to be: marianna.spring@bbc.co.uk

The corresponding person at CNN seems to be Donie O'Sullivan (who's Irish). edition.cnn.com/profiles/donie-osullivan
www.linkedin.com/in/donieosullivan
E-mail address on LinkedIn: donie.osullivan@warnermedia.com
E-mail address on BlueSky: donie.osullivan@cnn.com

Judging from info online, Marianna Spring is 29 and Donie O'Sullivan 34.
JK2006 Isn't it frightening Hedda that those of us bringing these absurdities to public attention are fading away or dying whereas there seem to be NO younger, fresh posters who give a fuck about such calamities?
hedda I'm gobsmacked that the Tuam allegations of over 10 years ago has been repeated ad infinitum around the world again in the last week with all the same claims and mis-information.

Dozens of news outlets around the world falsely claims that 100s of bodies were
found.
They were not.

They repeat the claim that this was uncovered by an "historian" (now amateur historian) but she was no such thing.

She produced the most misleading document that inferred somehow 100s of children died in these homes over the decades and that this was unusual an the Nuns were responsible.

What she failed to take into account was that over 120,000s infants died at the same time of the same awful illnesses and diseases who, were born into caring families.

Statically, the number of infants who died in care homes matched those who died in family homes. An absolutely dreadful era.

Nor did she bother to explain 100s of the Care Home toddlers died in normal hospitals and everyone that did die, was signed off by an independent doctor.

While an exhumations are claimed to be under way at the Tuam site, it's rather odd it's taking so long seeing the allegation is there is a large crypt below the ground.

## There very well maybe 100s of bodies there.

But they haven't been found yet dozens of news outlets from Al Jazerra and the BBC confidently claim, even now, that 100s of bodies have been found when no such thing has happened.

They are literally repeating the exact same thing that was exposed as nonsense 11 years ago.

Quite aside from the Tuam claims, just what absolute balderdash is our media feeding us when they can repeat a lie which they first claimed a decade ago?
