What a great compliment to a show.
Tom Baker for me.
My proper Doctor is Peter Davison (yes I am younger than most!) but did see Tom Baker. However Jon Pertwee is the one that I go for more than anyone else really!

I grew up with Will Hartnell and Patrick Troughton, but my favourite was Jon Pertwee, followed fairly closely by Paul McGann. Christopher Eccleston is a good actor, but he failed to understand the character of the Doctor and admitted he hadn't properly researched it. He also didn't grasp the enourmity of the role with it's ready made millions of worldwide fans. David Tennant does understand the character and plays it quite well even if slightly over the top in places. He's set to continue until 2010.
My top ten Doctors are
1 Jon Pertwee
2 Paul McGann
3 Tom Baker
4 Patric Troughton
5 William Hartnell
6 David Tennant
7 Colin Baker
8 Peter Davidson
9 Sylvester McCoy
10 Christopher Eccleston (good actor in wrong role)
Ideal next Doctor, even though he's unlikely to be considered, is James Aubrey.

Everyone must watch - Russell T Davies was quite superb in reviving it.
Best Doctor? I thought Ecclestone was sensational.
Worst? I can't stand Tennant.
