Denise A couple of years ago I saw a row of photos in a magazine. I can't recall who they each were of, but I remember that underneath it said what they were - singer, actor, model, etc. but one just said Celebrity. I thought - what does that mean? What does this person do to make them a celebrity?

I still don't know.
JK2006 My God Andy Warhol was spot on all those years ago, wasn't he?

People like Jade Goody become celebrities - I have no idea who she is or what, if anything, she has done.

The media creates its own celebs in order to sell products and then drops them and moves on (if they are lucky, sticking a boot in on the way out).

And the deeper result is - no real stars and no depth of ability.
It's instant and superficial fame for one reason. Yet another example of the lack of time or patience to develop and nurture, so ability need only be skin deep.
