Pete Clarke Sorry BR, but it wasn't 'the media' that sexualised me.

It was the onset of puberty.

I was brought up as a Catholic and, when I was a kid, it was very different from today. No internet. Not much sex on the telly etc.

Look around the animal kingdom and you'll see the same thing happening across all species. As soon as an animal is sexually mature, they want to procreate.

We are, after all, nothing more than highly intelligent apes.

Why do you think sex feels so good? It is mother nature's way of stimulating and encouraging the most natural act in the world.

As I said, it is a primal urge which cannot, and should not be supressed. You only have to look at the number of Catholic priests who turn into abusers to see this.
BR It is not an "age" thing.

It is a morality issue - such as the safest and best way to appreciate sex is in a loving relationship.

At 13 years old or even 16 years old it is unlikely that someone that age can make a loving lasting relationship.

That is the reason for the age of consent. It also allows kids a chance to just become friends with members of the opposite sex first - rather than see them as "objects" to "fuck" - as you very clearly said.

Yes we all have desires and hormones because we are programmed to procreate.

Abstinance until someone is 16 or married is not a big deal when most people are living into their 80s these days. It can save alot of heartache and dare I say this - abusive relationships.

I am not against sex. I am not saying that it is not difficult for people with high sex drives. But the evidence points towards self control - and that would improve the lives of many kids who are "sexualised" by the media ( as you were no doubt ) into having sex before they really could get the relationship side of things sorted out.
verias Lets face it-which Chrisitians actually follow the bible .. nowhere does it say in the New Testaments anything about the age at which people should have sex.

And in the old Testaments people were betrothed as soon as they reached puberty-12 to 14- and then married.

Today's Christianity has little to do with the originators of the religion althogh I still reckon JC was a pretty good bloke who was the original Socialist !
Pete Clarke So, as abstinence is totally unrealistic, what's the next best alternative....?

You know, the urge to procreate is utterly primal and is a result of MILLIONS of years of evolution.

Do you remember what it was like when you were 13 or 14.
When I was that age, all I wanted to do was fuck. You cannot supress that kind of urge.

God didn't create us. That is my belief, but it is not one that is based upon faith. I prefer to make my judgements based on scientific evidence. That is the age we live in.
BR The only evidence we have to judge GOD on is whether the words are measurable against what we know......

So does loving one another improve life ?

So does abstaining from sex before marriage protect us against STDs ?

and so on.

The belief in GOD is faith of course and like many things in life requires no evidence.

I feel that with STDs it is clear that abstinance before 16 or even 18 is a good thing because your life IS IN DANGER from such things. Some would disagree and think it was a risk worth taking.......
