Angel The younger the jab is administered the higher the success rate BR. It has nothing to do with New Labour encouraging under age sex. Appropriate and necessary in my book.
BR The article is written by the BBC. If you have listened to debates on say Radio 2 or 5 Live you will have heard the real story.

In addition 30% of parents have refused the jab nationally.

This is people power.

The majority of calls I heard on the Radio 2 phone in were supportive of the jab if it were done outside schools and was a free choice.

We are seeing advertising pushing people into having jabs they dont need.

I take it you realise that the jab is not against Cervical Cancer it is against a Sexually Transmitted disease.

Therefore for the majority of girls - especially under 16 - it is quite inappropriate and unecessary. Unless New Labour are actively encouraging Children to have sex under the age of 16 years old - in which case they should re-write the laws regarding consent.
zooloo If you read the article you will find they claim it is not a moral stand.

Your point is moot.
BR All schools indoctrinate end of.

Whether it is a faith school or not they all have their "ethos" Take a top public school like Eton or Harrow - just because they are not Faith schools does not mean they don't turn out a "certain type" of student.

Even home education would be biased towards the beliefs of the Parents.

So basically it is not really child abuse ! Unless it is being done against their will and as far as I am aware kids choose their Secondary Schools these days.

Therefore if you choose a Roman Catholic School it would follow that you would agree with the stand this school has taken on this jab. And that would be fair - in the same way a Jewish school would insist no non Kosher food was served etc.

People should be allowed to have beliefs - even if you we dont necessarily agree with them. To suggest that these beliefs are abuse is too strong a word. Yes children will have a biased upbringing - but I would say unless they are brought up in a closed community they are likely to be able to exercise some freewill.

After all we see today a Vicar in Wales convicted of Child Pornography charges. He exercised his free will outside of what you and I would think his beliefs would support. Therefore, i think the jab should be a matter of choice - not pushed down the throats of kids where they are learning.

I might add that I refused every jab at school in my secondary years when offered. That is because I had the freewill even back then to realise that education came first and my Doctor would advise me about my health - not my teachers or the Nanny state - neither of them are professionals.

It is like asking an electrician to do a plumbing job or a brain surgeon to do a prolapse. You deal with the expert where possible.

Our government has set itself up as the expert on EVERYTHING when in fact they do not understand ANYTHING.
Anthony How did I know it would be a religious school, even before clicking the link? Must be developing psychic powers in my old age. Hardly a case of "the people" fighting back, is it?

There is validity in your arguments, BR, but some pragmatism is required. Kids should be taught responsibility for their actions, but no-one can ever stop all of them giving into their natural urges, and denying them a vaccination which will save lives is irresponsible.

Are faith schools themselves not a form of child abuse? Indoctrinating the youth, killing off individual thought and replacing it with ancient superstitious religious scripture. I think so.
