veritas	Most of my research iis from the USA but that's where the "sex offender"laws emanated from in 1994 after a disturbing rape and murder of a child. One simple aspect is that as sex crimes have never decreased since then, obviously these laws are of no use. But they could have the opposite effect-tying up recourses and concentrating law enforcement on an "after the crime" fact instead of prevention and safety. Consider this : The USA may soon have a vice-president..and given John McCain's health, a PRESIDENT PALIN whose future son-in-law ,by a quirk of nature born in Alaska but in other states of the USA..would be CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER and placed on a register for life.Bristol Palin became preganant at the age of 17 ( we don't know how long she and her boyfriend had been having sex though). Her soon-to-be husband would be branded a peadophile or indeed, a VILE PERVERT !.
