JK2006 Shortly after my release I was invited onto the Victoria Derbyshire show on Five Live "to put across my side of the story".

I did that, despite efforts by Derbyshire to twist it against me. At one point she mocked my claim that I had received kind letters from hundreds of people when I was in prison and I mentioned I had had such correspondence from both the Chairman and DG of the BBC.

After the show, several of the renta-quote complaint manufacturers moaned to the BBC. I was astonished to get a call from the BBC lawyers saying that both Michael Grade and Mark Thompson denied having written to me and would I please issue a retraction.

Fortunately I kept all my mail and so was able to send photocopies to both Michael and Mark. Silence from then on.

But it illustrated to me the eagerness to avoid tabloid censure.

No backbones.

Was it Peter who denied him thrice?

If we give in to bullies, they will soon be smashing windows and crystal nights will be here, just as they were in Nazi Germany 70 years ago.
