BarntheBarn Saw this at the weekend and thought it was excellent. Currently the 202nd greatest film ever according to IMDB reviewers poll.
zooloo It was a serial on Radio 4 a while back... very good story full of character.

If the film has captured it half as well as the radio it should be a cracker.
mickeyone I went to a preview screening of this yesterday - it opens in the UK on January 9th.

It's a love story, set in the heart of Mumbai, between teenager Jamal Malik (beautifully played by Dev Patel)
and Latika (Frieda Pinto)who he loved and lost.
He is one question away from the 20million rupee jackpot on the Indian version of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire ?'.
We then piece together the story of how he got on to the show from his early years, living in the slums with his older brother.
3 sets of actors of different ages play the lead roles of Jamal, Latika and Salim.

Beautifully photographed by Anthony Dod Mantle, edited by Chris Dickins with a vibrant score by A.R.Rahman - the movie was scripted by Siomn Beaufoy (The Full Monty'from the original novel by Vikas Swarup. The film is a most definite return to form for director Danny Boyle.

'Slumdog Millionaire' is a thoroughly entertaining 'feelgood' movie - not a great film but a most enjoyable one !!
