JK2006 Meejah thinks public can only understand simple headlines so Sir James Crosby resigns and bankers are blamed and Obama is praised and false allegations bring convictions and so on.

Yet the reality is always more complex. Problems develop due to good people making mistakes in otherwise capable work; and, as Elvis Costello once brilliantly said, "accidents will happen".

We howl for social service firings and long sentences for killers and other simplistic solutions without bothering to examine details and we criticise judges and politicians if they don't also knee jerk react.

We deserve all we get.
