70% because, though I really liked the film, about 70 mins in I started to think "OK, we've got the message, another question, the answer's in his life" and began to fiddle.
Then - 10 minutes before the end - it shifted up a gear and was magnificent (especially the magic end credits).

Loved Langella but Sean's was more of a transformation and beautifully judged. I am connected so last night was one of the best of my life. Sorry to crow.
For once agreed with every award, including all those for Slumdog (70%??!!) - a 110% work of immense grace and power. I and I'm not connected to that.
So rare that the Academy gets it so right. Have almost forgiven them for Forest Gump, Titanic and Crash fiascoes.

He's terrific in Milk - just camp enough without going over the top.
Doubt is heartily recommended.
The Reader was my best film.
Incidentally, Anil Kapoor is fabulous in Slumdog.

I agree -Frank Langella is one of those truly great actors we have seen forever and possibly overlooked just how good he is. In Nixon-he was superb.
Haven't yet seen Milk but Sean Penn is one of my favourites. (why did he ever marry that mad woman ?)

Sean Penn was my choice for Best Actor until I saw Frank Langella as Nixon - but I haven't seen The Wrestler.
I must say I thought David Kross in The Reader was the best by far.
Slumdog is well worth seeing and enjoying but I think you'll agree it's a 70% film.
