"Don't hate the player, hate the game."
This government and the regulators should take 100% of the blame for this - they created and fostered an environment where Fred (and his ilk's) behaviour was not only condoned but actively encouraged, and yes, this did lead to unprecedented economic growth (a fact a lot of people are quick to forget), but anyone with a even a rudimentary grasp of economics could see it was unsustainable and a bubble waiting to burst, none of which would have mattered if the fates of the banks didn't so fundamentally affect the whole economy, but yes it does, and here we are...
Don't get me wrong, I've always thought (before it was fashionable!) that bankers and cityworkers are obscenely overpaid, but a deal's a deal. If your parents' or grandparents' old employers called them up and said "We've had a meeting and decided you did a bad job while you were here, so we're stopping your contractually-agreed pension," you'd quite rightly be aggrieved, and unfortunately this is no different: principles are there for the rich as well as the poor... |

one of fred's neighbours summed it up perfectly,
she was very well spoken and obviously very wealthy,
she said "it is wrong but i do understand why, what i cannot understand is the greed of fred and others like him" |

Typical stupid blame society rears its ugly head - people who borrowed to live beyond their means blame those who gave them credit for now removing it.
As a society we are going quietly mad.
Well, not so quietly.
And as a species we are near the end of the human race.
Probably good thing too.
Neither you or I were born into lower class poverty JK so we have no idea what struggling financially is like.
Most people have to borrow to live.
Sir Fred made a decision which cost people their jobs and homes. They are screwed while he takes a 700k a year pension and the government (via us) bail out his fuck up.
How is that acceptable ? |

How do you start to find the culprits when you have 63 million suspects??? |

Well look at the bright side. At least paediatricians are for the time being safe in their beds. Once again the violent and the stupid make their mark on the headlines. Common sense and civilisation, anyone? Somehow I doubt it. |
