Al Actually the standard of writing for 80s "Dr Who" had dropped considerably from the 60s and 70s. One of the strongest Who stories was 'The Mind Robber' in 1968. Standards began to fall during the later stages of the Tom Baker era. I've heard some promising things about the post-RTD period though. We shall see.

I'm sure John Barrowman is a nice chap, but he always comes over a bit smarmy on TV, even when he's being himself. Must admit I didn't watch Torchwood. I'm still a bit miffed at RTD for desecrating Dr Who, so I avoid all of his stuff.

I'm watching an 1980s Who at the moment (Peter Davison: Kinda) and I admire the depth to the story and the different levels. It's dificult to do that in 45 minutes, in the old days of 25 x 4 episodes, the better stories did so much more, at a slower pace.

BR can I say this - I am not gay but if I was John Barrowman would be top of my list It sort of proves the stereotypical comment - someone THAT good looking has to be gay !!! HEEE HEEE !!!

Beauty though I suppose is the eye of the beholder ! I always see a Tom Cruise lookalike when I look in the mirror HA ! HA !!!!

You're all mad!! The X Files, The Outer Limits, early Doctor Who, all miles better than the hugely ridiculous Torchwood. Barrowman is too good looking and too American and too Tom Cruise. Alas, I'm sure JK has got the hots for him. Even my own mother smiled in a heavenly manner when Barrowman emerged starkers from concrete rubble. The good looking swine! Down Rover!

Thing is Mr Controller, John Barrowman is SCOTTISH!
