It's a world phenomena and every tabloid, newspaper or TV outlet is doing the same.Laying or retiring older workers who have a lifetime of experience...a most precious commodity-and hiring young people on 2 year contracts (if they're lucky) to avoid superannuation and all.

It's not only TV that's affected. Attention to detail is no longer important. It's no longer about doing the job well, it's getting someone to just do the job and pay them as little as possible when it comes to the world of media (music included).

Do they ever monitor their output? Over the past few years all kinds of things have been messed up and nobody seems to notice for ages. Tonight, the later part of Midsomer Murders was being broadcast in the wrong ratio for several minutes before it was righted. Announcements, obviously recorded in advance, are made in the wrong order and sometimes over actual programmes. The there was the famous incident of the adverts being broadcast prematurely making many football fans miss a vital goal in a cup final. TV output is a shambles. Whay happened to the high standards of old?
